Keep your skin happy

Monday 20 September 2010

As those winter months are drawing in, getting ever so closer, (and colder!) your skin is going to need the very best care possible to stay healthy and glowing. Those cold, wet and windy days play havoc where our skins concerned so we've been trying out some of Elemental Herbology's best products to give you the lowdown. There are some loves, likes and rather nots, however, we still absolutely admire the company's philosophy and commitment. So here's a little bit about it..

"Elemental Herbology supports the belief that change and movement is a part of the natural cycle of life – nothing stays still and everything is in constant motion. Just as we crave soup in the winter and salad in the summer, to maintain its equilibrium skin also requires different actives at various times of the year. Whether it be seasonal variations such as the summer heat or autumn winds, external factors such as environmental stress or our diet or lifestyle, each one of these factors can potentially contribute to unbalanced, sensitive and reactive skin."  Elemental Herbology Philosophy

The people at Elemental Herbology are committed to making sure the harvesting and production of their raw materials is responsible and are 100% committed to sourcing premium grade ingredients. They support Fair Trade and their Purity promise means their entire range is free from paraben preservatives, sulphates, mineral oils, PABA sun screens and synthetic fragrances & colours. Their packaging is 100% bio-degradable and do not support animal testing.

This is a Facial Hydrator with added SPF 12, it's suitable for all skin types and protects against oxidation from the sun and pollution. The anti-ageing actives help repair sun damaged skin and boost complexion to impart a healthy summer glow. Soothing Oil Free is a light cream but doesn't feel that way when applied to the skin, as it feels sticky and slightly oily, which I suppose contradicts the name. On the good side, after a day or two your skin does feel a little softer.

Cell Food is a protection and repair facial serum. Described as a "power house of proteins, vitamins and anti-oxidants that helps boost and repair undernourished skin. It seeks to protect against the elements -air travel, central heating, pollution, cold winter winds and excessive summer sun. It reduces the prevalence of dark circles and balances the complexion to promote radiance.
It's brilliant as a night time cream, around the eyes in particular, reducing the signs of tiredness in the morning. The cream has an ultra light texture, that really does absorb well. It leaves your skin feeling nourished and moisturized.

A moisturizer, rich in anti-oxidants and hydrating botanicals, which helps to protect against the wind and cold by radically improving the barrier function to create a buffer between the epidermis and the environment.
Again, this doesn't have the most appealing smell, and does sit on the skin, but once it has absorbed, it leaves the skin soft and smooth.

This is a creamy balm-based facial cleanser that gently dissolves impurities and melts every trace of makeup. It also balances and brightens your skin tone or a more radiant complexion. It is described as a "cleanser, toner and hydrator in one."
You are meant to rub this balm into dry skin and remove with a face cloth soaked in warm water, but the balm is quite thick and it helps if you warm it in the palm of your hand first. Once you've done that, it can be massaged in easily. When washing it off with a face cloth and warm water, your skin still seems oily, but as soon as you dry your face, your skin is left cleansed, clean and moisturized.

Facial Glow helps to gently resolve dull, flaky and congested skin, while simulating the skins metabolism to promote a glowing and radiant complexion. It helps to reduce pigmentation and balance skin tone, while purifying the pores and help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
This is a really smooth and easy to apply face mask. It leaves the skin feeling completely cleaned and fresh. It is easy to remove and has a great scent to it. It is best followed by Cell Food.

The Absolute Favourite - Cool and Clear is absolutely brilliant. Part of the Summer Daily Essentials range, this is an ultra gentle cleanser that helps to dissolve impurities whilst balancing sebum production to purify and resolve congested skin. It's got a lovely natural Lavender scent to it and when used, it feels like a professional massage oil. After washing it off, the skin is left feeling fresh, clean, and not at all oily. As well as it's calming and relaxing scent, Cool and clear is designed for all skin types - especially teenagers. It removes all makeup perfectly, so I would definitely recommend going out and trying it!

Eyeko Beauty..

Friday 10 September 2010
Eyeko was born in 2000 and since then it has definitely been putting its Pretty London Stamp on the world! Everything is packaged beautifully with it's cute colours and fab names, so the products are any London Girl's dream.
We think we might tell you a little bit about what we've been loving, and you can see for yourself how great Eyeko is!

Eyeko's Nail Polishes are by far their most famous & successful products. Here are a couple we love;

The first is Posh Polish, for lady-like nails. This sleek and stylish polish goes with everything from casual trip to the shops or a glamorous night out! The chic taupe shade has got a great shine to it and we love it. With one coat, all the polishes stay on for more than four days, and with two, we expect it will last for even longer! It dries quickly, which is great for girls on the go, and we love the consistency, which is great to apply and easy to work with!

Eyeko say the Tea Rose polish is a 'soft pink cream that is the picture of pastoral elegance' and we quite agree. The gorgeous creamy matte pink is really girly and we love how it looks on our nails! A great look is to pair your lovely pinky nails with a pair of nude heels. Elegance to the max!

Vintage Polish is all we have to say on this one. Its simply fabulous and the look is exactly what it says on the small bottle. It gives you a twist of vintage while still remaining the height of fashion. Definitely the only green to be seen in! It's slightly thinner than all the others, but a good old two coats does the trick and it still looks oh so lush.

Last but not least is one of the new Eyeko polishes, its the Rain Polish. "Here comes the rain...but there's always a silver lining and two coats of the grey-blue hue will put a smile on your face."  Can you see that hint of glitter in the photo? Cause we can, and we think this is a Autumn/Winter essential!

Here's a little picture of all those other pretty polishes:

One of our other Eyeko favourites is their 3in1 Magic Mascara! It gives a extra volume, luxe length and super curl. Thats right up our street! It's fancy packaging glitters like diamonds in the light, which is another feature we love! The brush is big, bold, and separates out those tangled lashes with one easy swipe!

And the lovely girls at Eyeko will even pop in a free gift especially for you, if you enter code E10771 in the special comments box at the bottom of the checkout page. We're loving Eyeko that little bit more every minute!

Make sure you check out www.eyeko.com and remember the code E10771 for your special free gift!
Happy Shopping and remember to let us know what you treat yourself to.. x

1. Beauty Tips

Monday 6 September 2010
Out of your favourite cream or cleanser? Can't get to the shops in time before the next day, when you know you'll really be needing them?

Here is the stylish solution to your disastrous dilemma..

  • The first thing you need to be doing is grabbing that empty (or so you think) plastic container, whipping out the scissors and getting busy cutting it open.

  • Once you've cut it open, separate it into two parts, and take a look inside. See all that product you thought wasn't there?

    Check out all that product!

  • Next, grab an empty pot and an ice lolly stick (or something similar) and start to scrape out your favourite cream.

Tools of the trade..

  • Once you've got a good lolly stick of it, pop it into the tub!

  • Now I bet that'll last you till tomorrow!

Mission LASH.

Yesturday, a little brown package arrived with the post lady. I opened it and found that Rimmel London had sent me a little black envelope containing their new mascara, and a letter saying that I'd become a VIP.

I filled out the VIP questionnaire, popped it back in an envelope to send it back, and then got down to business with testing the mascara.

Now officially taking part in the 30 day lash challenge I was excited to see if this wonder formula really did make your lashes stronger, whist renewing and nourishing them. On top of this, the mascara makes your lashes look 80% longer - now who would say no to that?

The Lash accelerator contains Rimmel's unique Grow-Lash Complex, meaning that after the 30 day period, your natural lashes will be upto 117% longer than they were before.

One thing we have to say is that the packaging on this new product, is none other than brilliant. It's bright and eye catching, so while searching those drugstore shelves for that perfect product, you won't go past this one without taking a second glance!

Now, I can't comment on the built in treatment this is supposed to have, as obviously I haven't been using it for long enough, but just applying the mascara has great results. As you can see here in these eyeshots.

After applying the mascara
on the top lash for the
first time.
Before applying.
I will keep you updated as to what happens to my lashes and if this mascara really does do what it says on the tube!
