How To: Nail Foils

Tuesday 24 May 2011
In one of my latest posts, I included a quick picture of my nails and asked if you would like to see a 'how to' well here it is...

Many of you will have heard of Minx, Rebel or Nail Rock - famous for their fabulous nail foils and brilliant designs, well now Primark have jumped on the band wagon, and produced their take on the trend. They don't last as long, feel quite plastic-y but look amazing!

You will need: nail polish remover, nail file, hair dryer, scissors, cuticle stick/pusher and some nail foils!

1. Start by soaking your hands in warm water for around 5 minutes. Once your cuticles feel soft, push them back gently using your cuticle stick.

2. Buff the tops of your nail with the nail file, and then finish off by sweeping over them with some nail polish remover to remove grease and dust.

3. Grab your nail foils, and whip out the instructions. Give them a quick read, and then get to it!

4. Peel off the protective covering, and use this to decide which size would best fit your first nail.

5. Take your chosen nail foil size, and carefully apply it to your nail, ensuring that it fits snug under your cuticles.

6. Now grab your hair dryer and hold your nail under the heat until you feel it loosening up. Then get your cuticle stick and press down over the nail, removing any air bubbles, and making sure that the whole foil is stuck down.

7. Bend over the left over nail foil, and use your nail file to remove the excess.

8. File your nail using down wards strokes, and moving away from the nail.

9. The excess should drop off, and you should be left with gorgeous, foiled nails!
