elf haul

Better late than never I suppose! Here are some bits that I picked up a couple of months back.

1. e.l.f's new bamboo brush collection.

These brushes are priced at £5.50 each - bit more than usually expected from e.l.f, but none the less, they are worth it, as they are soft, don't malt like the regular e.l.f brushes, and apply product evenly.

Not entirely keen on the brown and leafy packaging, as by paying more I did expect the packaging to be more sophisticated. I actually prefer the simple studio brush packaging to this. But lets not judge the book by its cover..

Anyway, putting the packaging design failure to one side, and thinking about the actual purchase. I'm quite chuffed :) These brushes are great all rounders, and could probably make even the worst makeup look good.

The pay off of a product, I think, completely depends on the brushes/tools that you are using. So investing in some good brushes has to be one of the golden rules for any beauty junkie.

Overall, these are definitely worth the extra couple of pounds. They are in a completely new league compared to the standard e.l.f brushes, and definitely have the edge on the studio line, as you can easily see how much product is on the brush thanks to the clear bristles.

Back to e.l.f's standard range, my next purchase is a liquid eyeshadow in 'Sultry Satin'
The idea was that this could quite easily dupe the famous MAC Bare Study Paint Pot, which, yes, it could. But if you can pay the extra - go with MAC.

Colour is lovely, but the cheap large specs of glitter and the liquid formulation make this so much harder to use.

It is also quite sheer, and doesn't give your eyeshadow that added glow which is done so elegantly by the paint pot.

The finish is nice, and it dries slowly, giving you time to apply your eyeshadow whilst it remains sticky. It does stop creasing to some extent, but again MAC wins, as the paint pot will last all day.
