EOTD :)

Wednesday, 27 October 2010
So we've all heard of face of the day, lip of the day, outfit of the day, nail of the day etc. Just to put a different slant on things, here is my eye of the day :)

Let me know if we shall make this a regular occurance..

It's a simple smokey brown eye, which I think looks more hard work than it actually is!

The eyeshadows used all came from an Elegant Eyes Chilli Pepper palette, in 'Slate'
I'm not sure if it is still available, but they do have a bigger palette which looks to me like it might contain the same colours. Take a peek here.

Some quick swatches are below..

L-R - 1, 2, 3, 4

L-R - 4, 3, 2, 1

L-R - 1, 2, 3, 4

Using the applicator that came along in the palette, I coated the eye lid in number 3, followed by a gentle smudge of number 1, (again all over the lid).  Number 4 was dabbed graciously in the outer 1/2 of the lid, with a dusting of number 2 smudged into the crease.

With the eye lashes curled, I coated them with mascara, and lined the tight-line and water-line with a black eye pencil. Finally added a touch of Benefit's bright eye pencil to the inner corner of the eyes. And voila! ..a simple and easy to apply look, that can be subtle enough for the day, but can be glammed up for the night. (see below)

 Products Used:
Elegant Eyes Chilli Pepper Palette, in 'Slate'
Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara (have been using this for over 30 days now, and have seriously noticed an improvement! See my reviews here and here.)
Benefit's Eye Bright
Estee Lauder Artist's Eye Pencil in 'Soft Smudge Black'

For a quick day to night change, I would pop on some of FYF's Couture Pout Mineral Lipstick in 'Natalie', and a smooth all over coating of their Radiant Eye Shadow in 'Moon Beam' to add a little sparkle..

Followed by a quick dash of W7's Liquid Lipstick in the shade '01'

The two paired together.

Just a couple of bits that I am currently loving :)

1. M.A.C Pigment in Naked.

After a trip to Selfridges on Oxford Street, I had my first mac experience.. and loved it!
I picked up a couple of items and the first was a pigment..
Its a really natural colour, which I use for a highlight or an everyday eyeshadow.

2. M.A.C Dazzle Glass in Baby Sparks

Its a gorgeous baby pink with violet pearl.
As you can probably guess I went all 'au natural' with my first mac products as I didn't want to waste my money on something I would never wear, and I'm glad I did as I pretty much wear these everyday.

3. Amie Skincare.
Completely perfect for winter, as their skincare products keep the skin looking healthy and glowing.

Full post coming soon, so watch this space :)

Rimmel has done it again..

Sunday, 10 October 2010
Shades in photo; Amethyst Shimmer, Sweetie, Heather Shimmer, Coral In Gold, Sugar Plum

The 2 shades that were sent to me were Fudge Brownie 242, a shimmery brown with white pearl, and Drop of Sherry 058, a red-pink colour with a touch of shimmer.

Drop of Sherry                  Fudge Brownie

The swatches on the website really don't do these colours justice, so I will be uploading some more realistic photos later this week!

But in the meantime I am being amazed at the staying power these lipsticks possess as no re-applying is needed throughout the day.

P.S quickly go and see what you can find on the Rimmel website, as they are currently giving away 10,000 full-size samples of these super lipsticks. :)

Men Are Useless

Saturday, 2 October 2010
Or are they? Because which ever lot of men came up with this ingenious idea are certainly the opposite.

The company's policy, is that men should be out there catching the baddies, not faffing around ordering shampoo's and razors, so they deliver it straight to your door, without any hassle at all.

The Men Are Useless aim … to give men (and the people who love them) more time to play out, fight sharks, catch baddies, build dens, practice wheelies and hit the heights they deserve.

They believe …
  1. Men have better things to do than going out shopping for male grooming stuff.
  2. Their partners should not be relied on to buy their essentials
  3. There are a lot of rubbish toiletries out there that should not be selling in the numbers they are
  4. Men with better things to do (like building dens), prefer fewer, better choices.
  5. Men should not be walking out of their houses smelling like their partner's bathroom products, and so need their own.
  6. Busy men should not be worrying about the mundane!
  7. Male Chromosomes + Shops = Misery, - and we quite agree!
  8. All men, given some free time, can find a creative use for it
  9. Why bother doing the boring stuff, cause it uses up the time they should be doing rewarding stuff
  10. Good grooming essentials should not cost the earth.

The box comes packed full of daily essentials especially for men, at a great price starting at £9.99 - all in. (VAT and P&P included.)

We were sent the 'Works' Box, which contains a shampoo/shower gel, king of shaves azor, spare cartridges, shave gel, toothpaste & spare razor every 2 months, a deodrant, and face pack - so your man will never go short.

Here is a sneak peak inside the box, complete with funny postcards and a letter from men are useless..

Keep your skin happy

Monday, 20 September 2010

As those winter months are drawing in, getting ever so closer, (and colder!) your skin is going to need the very best care possible to stay healthy and glowing. Those cold, wet and windy days play havoc where our skins concerned so we've been trying out some of Elemental Herbology's best products to give you the lowdown. There are some loves, likes and rather nots, however, we still absolutely admire the company's philosophy and commitment. So here's a little bit about it..

"Elemental Herbology supports the belief that change and movement is a part of the natural cycle of life – nothing stays still and everything is in constant motion. Just as we crave soup in the winter and salad in the summer, to maintain its equilibrium skin also requires different actives at various times of the year. Whether it be seasonal variations such as the summer heat or autumn winds, external factors such as environmental stress or our diet or lifestyle, each one of these factors can potentially contribute to unbalanced, sensitive and reactive skin."  Elemental Herbology Philosophy

The people at Elemental Herbology are committed to making sure the harvesting and production of their raw materials is responsible and are 100% committed to sourcing premium grade ingredients. They support Fair Trade and their Purity promise means their entire range is free from paraben preservatives, sulphates, mineral oils, PABA sun screens and synthetic fragrances & colours. Their packaging is 100% bio-degradable and do not support animal testing.

This is a Facial Hydrator with added SPF 12, it's suitable for all skin types and protects against oxidation from the sun and pollution. The anti-ageing actives help repair sun damaged skin and boost complexion to impart a healthy summer glow. Soothing Oil Free is a light cream but doesn't feel that way when applied to the skin, as it feels sticky and slightly oily, which I suppose contradicts the name. On the good side, after a day or two your skin does feel a little softer.

Cell Food is a protection and repair facial serum. Described as a "power house of proteins, vitamins and anti-oxidants that helps boost and repair undernourished skin. It seeks to protect against the elements -air travel, central heating, pollution, cold winter winds and excessive summer sun. It reduces the prevalence of dark circles and balances the complexion to promote radiance.
It's brilliant as a night time cream, around the eyes in particular, reducing the signs of tiredness in the morning. The cream has an ultra light texture, that really does absorb well. It leaves your skin feeling nourished and moisturized.

A moisturizer, rich in anti-oxidants and hydrating botanicals, which helps to protect against the wind and cold by radically improving the barrier function to create a buffer between the epidermis and the environment.
Again, this doesn't have the most appealing smell, and does sit on the skin, but once it has absorbed, it leaves the skin soft and smooth.

This is a creamy balm-based facial cleanser that gently dissolves impurities and melts every trace of makeup. It also balances and brightens your skin tone or a more radiant complexion. It is described as a "cleanser, toner and hydrator in one."
You are meant to rub this balm into dry skin and remove with a face cloth soaked in warm water, but the balm is quite thick and it helps if you warm it in the palm of your hand first. Once you've done that, it can be massaged in easily. When washing it off with a face cloth and warm water, your skin still seems oily, but as soon as you dry your face, your skin is left cleansed, clean and moisturized.

Facial Glow helps to gently resolve dull, flaky and congested skin, while simulating the skins metabolism to promote a glowing and radiant complexion. It helps to reduce pigmentation and balance skin tone, while purifying the pores and help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
This is a really smooth and easy to apply face mask. It leaves the skin feeling completely cleaned and fresh. It is easy to remove and has a great scent to it. It is best followed by Cell Food.

The Absolute Favourite - Cool and Clear is absolutely brilliant. Part of the Summer Daily Essentials range, this is an ultra gentle cleanser that helps to dissolve impurities whilst balancing sebum production to purify and resolve congested skin. It's got a lovely natural Lavender scent to it and when used, it feels like a professional massage oil. After washing it off, the skin is left feeling fresh, clean, and not at all oily. As well as it's calming and relaxing scent, Cool and clear is designed for all skin types - especially teenagers. It removes all makeup perfectly, so I would definitely recommend going out and trying it!
