Summer Specials: Oh My Gosh

Thursday, 21 July 2011
Hi Everyone :)

Hope your all doing well! Seeing as I haven't posted properly in a while, I thought I'd hit off the summer with a new series - Summer Specials! Featuring all I have been loving this past month, what I'm loving in those to follow, and throwing in a couple of competitions along the way!

So first up, we have every make-up lover's summer essential, a bronzer...

Well maybe the essential would really be a bronzer and blusher, but this one's a little bit special as GOSH's Bronzing Shimmer Powder does both! It happily combines 5 shades of shimmer that together achieves a beautiful bronzed rosy glow.

At first glance, this looks so pretty! - and a little scary might I add, as that it's completely covered in glitter, and the thought of that transferring to your face is maybe a little daunting.

However it turns out to be just a covering and as soon as you rub on your brush, it flutters away like fairy dust to reveal a gorgeous pearlescent shimmer.

I must admit, that despite not really feeling some other GOSH products - I've actually been really impressed with this, it gives a subtle shimmer, brightens up the cheekbones, as well as doing the traditional bronzer job of adding that little bit of definition! It glistens beautifully in the sunlight without sparking outrageously like some of the cheaper blusher/bronzers that I have tried, and it just genuinley adds a sun-kissed look that all of us will be wishing for this summer.

Here is what GOSH say...
'The silky smooth, perfumer free powder glides on like a dream - use a big make-up brush and sweep over faces, define cheekbones, collarbones, shoulders and enhance cleavage. Choose from shades 001 Bronze (creates a deep, bronze glow) and 002 Pink (creates a soft, rosy glow)'

I have been trying out shade 002, so here are a couple of swatches...

Overall, I would say that this has to be a summer special... Not only does it act as a blusher adding warmth and a summery glow to your face, but enhances your golden tan!

GOSH's Bronzing Shimmer Powder gets a summer special rating of: 7/10

It retails for £8.17 and can be found at Superdrug

Topshop - Autumn / Winter 2011

Tuesday, 5 July 2011
Here are is a quick peek at what TOPSHOP has in store for us this Autumn / Winter...

These two pictures are some of my favourites, the classic fur coat is back, and so are long, thick socks. Just shows you can be fashionable and comfortable!

There are definitely some key colours coming through next season, starting with the obvious browns and blacks, but flowing through to bright pinks and deep reds.

The shoes really amaze me in these shots, they really are something out of this world. They can really perk up an outfit, or lift it to the height of sophistication.

Ahhh, more fur! One reason I love love love winter, are the amazing textures and layers that you can wear and pair with anything.

And finally this image has to be my favourite! I love the fur collared blazer paired with the silk/chiffon polka duo, the knee length socks - and that red patent leather satchel! I must remind myself to pop in later this year, that bag looks fab!

Day 2 Night

Monday, 30 May 2011
2 LASH LOOKS 1 MASCARA.

I've actually go to give it to them this time as Rimmels latest initiative really does them justice. Maybe a slight copy of MAC's Haute & Naughty Lash? But none the less, this is good. I would say that I do prefer MAC's packaging - the glitter maybe making the decision for me... But anyway, here is what Rimmel have to say about their new mascara:

"Rimmel introduces Glam’Eyes Day-2-Night, our first mascara that creates two dramatically different lash looks with just one brush. The secret is the magic double cap!

During the day, choose the Length Cap for ultra-long, gorgeously defined lashes – perfect for those flirtatious
encounters by the photocopier.

And for night time, choose the Volume Cap, and plump your lashes to up to 15 times their normal thickness, leaving them voluptuously lush-looking and ready to party.

Now you can customise your style and transform your look with the sweep of a brush. By day, by night, double the magic and get the London look."

Overall, this mascara is good, does what it says on the tube, but still has that cheap 'my lashes don't feel like lashes' kindof feel. It does flake through out the day, but it really does do itself justice with the double day-to-night wand. It takes up less space, and gives you something you wouldn't usually find in one mascara - length AND volume.
